STEPHEN CAVALLO
Stephen Cavallo is an atelier like no other in New York City. Located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, it has been the well-kept secret of architects and interior designers for decades. Established in 1911 and until recently known simply as Mirror Fair, its primary offerings were custom-made mirrors that are still made today with the same painstaking attention to detail and craftsmanship.
In 2008 3rd-generation owner Stephen Cavallo developed a new vision for the studio and ventured into the production of bespoke cast-glass mouldings and mirrored paneling. Using centuries-old techniques, the artisans who work behind the scenes of newly branded Stephen Cavallo engrave, etch, tint and carve beautiful mouldings and paneling into existence. These latest creations have been used in custom, mirrored interiors for both commercial and residential projects around the world.
Their roster of clients includes Bergdorf Goodman, Robert AM Stern, Brian McCarthy, and the National Trust, to name a few.
“Truly if the craftsmen behind Versailles’ Galerie des Glaces have a spiritual descendant, it has to be Stephen Cavallo.”
